The Primeteens

Garage psych at its very best. Released on the same label that gave the world the '60's Italian Beat Resurrection' series among others. My only regret is that The Primeteens didn't decide in favor of the Italian sung version by Le Facce Di Bronzo (on '60's Italian Beat Resurrection # 1') for inspiration instead. But that is a minor complaint as this EP really smokes from start to finish. The Primeteens lasted from 1986 till 1991 and all 4 cuts on the EP were recorded December 1990. The EP itself was released March 1993. 'Hear it, buy it, this is the most beautiful example of this kind of music released in Italy ever!!!' boast the liner notes, which is quite a claim but I must admit that they have a point there. In any case buy it before it's too late as the Destination X EP's (and LP's) are all very limited editions. The rest of Claudio 'Fuzz' Menegati's liners is all written in Italian. Don't know exactly what he's raving about, but he sounds pretty enthusiastic about the whole thing: 'Questi 'freaks' ci danno un' entusiasmante visione di alcuni piccoli classici tra cui una stupefacente versione di 'I Can Only Give You Everything', assolutamente incontenibile, che dal mio punto di vista non credo sia seconda a nessuna versione dell' epoca!'. Well, stupendous it certainly is. The 3 remaining cuts on the EP are covers as well: 'Ski Bum' (originally by The Moguls on Panorama 27 and also available on 'Back From The Grave # 7'), 'Little Boy Blue' (originally by Tonto & The Renegades on Sound Of The Sceen 2178 and also available on 'Back From The Grave # 4') and 'Without Crying' (originally by The French Church on Princeton 101/2 and also available on 'Highs In The Mid Sixties # 19'). Thanks to Vanya Rancic for helping me find this great EP. Line-up: Scanna (lead vocals/drums) - Anthony (lead guitar) - Andrea (guitar) - Guido (bass/Farfisa organ). Produced by Scanna.
