Los Walkers
|
Los Walkers' eponymous first album also included another Them cover:
'Gloria'. Plus two Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Tich covers: 'Hold Tight'
and 'Hard To Love You' and two Box Tops covers: 'The Letter' and 'Happy Times'.
Other covers on this album are the Rolling Stones' 'Out Of Time', the
Yardbirds' 'Lost Women' and John Loudermilk's 'Tobacco Road'. They also
performed a version of 'The Letter' in the movie 'A Solas Con Tu Nombre'.
Los Walkers' version of 'I Can Only Give You Everything' (entitled 'Solo
Puedo Darte Todo') is a hilarious example of misunderstood lyrics to say
the least. Almost every single line is misinterpreted, they even got the
chorus wrong! Don't get me wrong now, I really like this version a lot. But
what were they thinking this song was about, I have no idea. I could put
the lyrics to the 'Foreign (!?!) Language Lyrics' site of course, but I
don't want to embarrass these guys any further. Get this album at all cost
if you want to hear how 'Gloria' sounds with bongos. No kidding! What's
more: it actually works!!! The album's front cover is a complete rip off of
the first Doors LP. Los Walkers are pictured in full mod attire looking
very cool. They carried the reputation of being a very wild bunch on stage.
Their two further albums lean more towards psychedelia. San Telmo is a
suburb of Buenos Aires. Line-up: Carlos Alberto Altamirano
(guitar/organ/vocals) - Roberto Jorge 'Rover' (guitar) - Ignacio 'Tata'
(bass) - Roberto Antonio 'Corre' Lopez (drums). Produced by Héctor
Migliano.
