The Keepers
This is the first new version since this site went on air. The first guys who answered my plea! Thanks a lot guys. What's even more satisfying is the fact that, just like the original interptreters Them, they hail from Belfast. The
first Belfast band to do this in 35 years, strange enough. What more can I say, this is a helluva great version! The Keepers emerged from the ashes of Thee Dreggs when their lead singer/guitarist John McKeever moved to
Belgium. Thanks for introducing me to these guys, John! John was replaced by Hugh Burns who used to be in The Cinnamon Firm. Their version was recorded early July 2001 at the band's rehearsal room (The Soundmill,
Crumlin Road, Belfast). It was recorded live straight to a four track cassette recorder. According to drummer Norm Burns there wasn't really any production other than placing four mics in the room and trying to get the right
mix of instruments and vocal. There you go, four mics and a cassette recorded is basically all you need. What's the rest of you waiting for!?! It was sung by bass player Willy Stitt who is not the main vocalist and he does an ace
job here. Line up: Hugh Burns (rhythm guitar/vocals) - Bob Martin (lead guitar) - Willy Stitt (bass/vocals) - Norm Burns (drums).
